Wargrave Wellness highlights

I've certainly felt spoilt lately - fantastic summer weather, a local kids triathlon using our fabulous school pool and a two-week festival in the village next door incorporating comedy, music and theatre (to name but a few!).

And as part of the Wargrave Festival 2017, I went along to the Wellness Night - which promised a fabulous evening of pampering, shopping and Prosecco, well who was I to pass on that!

It was a great evening, held on the village green in front of a church that dates back to the 12th century. As well as the opportunity for some treatments and mentoring, there were live demos of hair and make up, advice from experts in everything from nutrition to dentistry and the chance to shop for wellness products, treats and trinkets. Of course, steeped in history as this traditional village is, the world is now a global marketplace, making it easy to share the gems I discovered in the breezy marquee with everyone, everywhere...

'Tote-ally' perfect

A bag full of ethics

Do you ever look at your handbag in horror - and think back to what it was like to own something lovely before you had kids? Sticky snacks, Sharpies and sand - just a few of the things you'll find inexplicably all over your things once you become a parent. Well you're not the only one.

Mums Catherine and Emma also longed for desirable but durable products - and decided to do something about it. So they formed Meco - and created a tote bag smart and big enough for everyday life that you can literally hose down if it gets dirty (and it will, you have children remember).

Better still the brand has an emphasis on creating responsible products. The Meco tote is 100% vegan and cruelty free, using materials that are durable and responsible: the silicone used is a natural, sand-based substance, which is recyclable and the PU used is less harmful to the environment than PVC. Even Meco packaging and marketing materials are recycled! The tote comes in a range of colours, passes the 'does-it-fit-comfortably-on-my-shoulder-with-and-without-a-coat-on' test - and feels and looks unbelievably soft and smooth. The only problem? Deciding which colour you want the most...

Berkshire bliss

Relaxed luxury in Berkshire
Another quintessentially British location close to me is Cliveden. The National Trust gardens are the picnic and dog walking spot of choice, and the house, which is a glamorous five star hotel, is steeped in history - with guests ranging from Queen Victoria to Churchill.

This summer, the iconic hideaway will open a new spa. And behind garden walls and tumbling scented roses and jasmine, you'll find relaxed luxury in the form of trained therapists, treatment rooms, relaxation areas, state-of-the-art changing room facilities, an indoor pool plus sauna and steam rooms, a dedicated restaurant and lounge and the infamous ‘Profumo’ outdoor swimming pool that remains centre stage in the Spa Garden.

And breathe...

Are you sitting comfortably?

If you're suffering with back pain, these ladies can help
Sixteen years in complementary healthcare led the therapists behind The Lotus Centre, to one conclusion - that a lot of back care products are being bought but then wasted.

So Sports Massage and Rehabilitation practitioner and Upledger Cranio-Sacral Therapist Lorna; and McTimoney Chiropractor Rachael, decided it was time to pass on their knowledge and information they provide to patients in another way.

They now run Sittingwell - a company that provides everything from pillows, wedges, foam rollers to chairs that help ensure back health at home, out and about, in the car, in bed and even throughout pregnancy.

They have even developed their own Sittingwell Back Support Cushion to help you get comfy wherever you are - and avoid back pain. The website has loads of different products, advice and practical videos so that you can really decide which products is best for your needs - and actually see how they work. No more wasted products gathering dust in the corner.

Well, what are you waiting for...shopping is form of therapy...right?!
